As I am sure you can appreciate Leeds City Council have had to scale down their service quite considerably due to Coronavirus outbreak in order to comply with the Government guidance around social distancing, self-isolation and our current staffing levels.
A decision has been made not to complete any litter picking and not to empty litter bins as there should be less people during the restrictions of movement.
The crews have been given the instructions to deal with side waste and fly tipping containing household waste only as this poses a much higher risk to health.
As you may already be aware, some bins have been sealed where possible to prevent use.
Leeds City Council’s advice to the public is that any dog fouling or litter should be taken home with them. This course of action will also enable us to keep our remaining staff as safe as possible whilst carrying out their duties.
As things develop and improve the service offered will be revised.
