This website is run by Otley Town Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- some images don’t have a text equivalent
- We have approximately 400 pdfs from 23rd September 2018 to 19th March 2021 that we know pass many accessibility tests but some tests require manual checking such as logical structure. If you have any issues regarding any documents or wish to obtain them in a different format please get in touch with the Otley Town Council admin team.
- agendas for committee meetings must be signed and therefore we are only currently able to add these in a pdf format. We are looking into ways we can add these in a more accessible format whilst maintaining the integrity of the authorising signature which is a legal requirement
- some images with text need to be re-sized
- some forms on the site are not consistent in terms of data input
- some third party or printed documents are not in a format we can amend to make them accessible at the present time. We are continually working on improving these areas.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDF’s or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.
