Residents and visitors to Otley are being invited to have their say on plans for a new nature-friendly garden in the heart of the town.
A new wildlife garden is proposed for the space opposite Otley bus station, with two design options being put forward for people to consider.
The project aims to create an attractive and welcoming space that can be enjoyed by everyone, while providing a haven for wildlife and encouraging local people to bring more nature into their own gardens, beds and planters.
The Otley Wildlife Garden Design Competition gives the local community an opportunity to influence the final design and to encourage people to think about how relatively small spaces can be transformed to benefit both people and wildlife.
Cllr Richard Hughes, Chair of the Otley Town Council Environment & Sustainability Committee is excited about the chance to improve the town centre environment. “We are pleased to have received two good, but different designs that will help the public and judging panel ensure we have the right garden for a restful town centre space and which, we hope, inspires Otley’s gardeners.”
A response sheet is available at Otley Town Council offices, and views can also be submitted on the Council’s website.
The consultation is open from Wednesday 7 October to Thursday 22 October.
The organisers are encouraging as many local people as possible to take part and help shape this community space in the centre of Otley. Have you say here: Otley Wildlife Garden Design | Otley Town Council
