Twinning
Otley 'twinned' with Montereau in 1980 (Montereau lies to the South East of Paris. It has significant history in connection with the French Revolution and a fasinating China museum. Prior to the twinning, exchanges had taken place between the students of the local school, the Rotary Club and Otley Rugby Club with their counterparts in Montereau.
Montereau is also twinned with"Walldurn" (Germany), Parades (Portugal) & Aydin (Turkey) ]. Both Otley and Montereau have a twinning committee. The one in Otley operates independently of the Town Council, whereas in Montereau there is a political link. Although it is Otley itself that is twinned with Montereau, anybody living in or close by, with an interest in the area (and the French!) is welcome to participate.
